Bog Club-moss

About This Species

Three Club-mosses occur in the New Jersey Pine Barrens. The Carolina Club-moss is the only one with a prostrate main stem. The Fox-tail and Bog Club-mosses both have arching main stems. The Fox-tail Club-moss is the larger of these two, with a cone larger in diameter than an ordinary wooden pencil. The Bog Club-moss is smaller, with a cone smaller than an ordinary wood pencil. All three occur in wet locations.
